Whether or not vitamins help clear acne is an answer many acne sufferers search for in their quest for acne free skin. In this article I explain how vitamins can help clear up skin problems, the limitations of vitamins and a recommendation for the best vitamins to take for a clear complexion.
There are two schools of thought about acne and it cause. One is that it is purely about bacteria and an over production of male hormones that is the result of nothing but genetics. This school of thought leads to acne treatments like antibiotics, which attack the bacteria, and other cosmetic attempts at redcuing the bacteria such as light or laser treatments or gels and cleansers.
The other school of thought about the cause of acne is that it is a hormonal malfunction caused by lifestyle factors such as diet and mental stress. This theory leads to an altogether different acne treatment such as diet changes, organ cleansing and stress reduction techniques. Within this holistic treatment is the use of vitamins to treat acne.
Whilst vitamins have a positive effect on the body and consequently the skin, there are some distinctions that need to be made. Vitamins as sold in supplement form are usually isolated into an individual chemical form, and the body finds it difficult to utlize the vitamin. For the process of efficient digestion to take place it is necessary to have enzymes to break down the vitamins into a usable form in the intestines. Most supplements do not have enzymes are part of their formulas and so the vitamins do not get absorbed very effectively.
The way to get vitamins is through vitamin rich foods that contain enzymes. Uncooked vegetables are a great example. But eating raw vegetables is a tough job even for a dedicated health conscious individual, so there are more practical ways to get the vitamins and the enzymes needed: Superfoods.
Superfoods such as barley grass and wheatgrass contain many vitamins and minerals as well as the enzymes so that the body use them. Superfoods are wholefoods, meaning they contain everything the body needs to operate effectively. Processed foods, prevalent in modern western society are not wholefoods and contain very little of what the body needs to operate properly, and in fact use up enzymes you get from other food. They put the body under a lot of strain.
The important thing to know is that vitamins, minerals and enzymes are only one part of the holistic treatment of acne, but an essential one nonetheless. The best way to get lots of vitamins is by eating wholefoods, vegetables and superfoods. This will go a long way in helping you achieve clear skin.
