In this article you will learn the truth about the whole acne diet debate. You will discover why diet affecting acne is such as controversial subect and you will also hear my own personal experiences of changing my diet to clear my skin.
So why do conventional dermatologists state that diet does not affect acne?
Well, about 30 years ago an experiment was set up to find out whether diet did cause acne. Two groups of teenagers were gathered, one group ate candy bars high in chocolate, the other group received chocolate bars high in vegetable oil. These two groups were observed for 30 days. At the end of the 30 day period no change in acne was observed in either groups after eating either the chocolate candy bars or vegetable oil candy bars for a month.
That is the simplistic test that 'proves' that acne is not caused by diet. And it is the experiment cited in the texbooks that dermatologists read whilst studying at medical school. However, anyone with common sense will easily be able to tell that this acne diet experiment is deeply flawed. This question that was unanswered about the experiment proves that it was not controlled and so not a valid experiment:
What else did the acne sufferers eat during the experiment?
There are so many different variables introduced into each individuals diet that the experiment fails just because of this factor.
But more importantly, nutritionists (the experts in food) will tell you that both sugar in chocolate and vegetable oil cause acne! So by eating either of those you will be giving yourself acne.
So now a little experiment for yourself to do. Work out how much sugar and vegetable oil you consume on a daily basis. Chances are it's relatively high. Cut out both of these foods from your diet for exactly 7 days. From my own personal experience, and that of many others, doing this produces a dramatic improvement in acne, and can often resolve it completely.
